Chapter 439 - 438: As Long as He Chooses Me
Archer Quinn suppressed the jealousy in his heart and asked, "Bella, will you be good to his family?"
"Of course I will." Bella Acker answered without hesitation, "I will certainly be very, very good to his family."
"Then you don’t need to worry," Archer Quinn said. "The difficulty now can be made up for in the future with double the kindness and sincerity. If a year isn’t enough, then try ten years; his family will eventually see your goodness."
Bella Acker paused, then nodded after a moment, "Okay. As long as... as long as Damian chooses me, I will give my best effort to make sure he never regrets his choice."
But... what if Damian doesn’t give her the chance at all?
Bella Acker lowered her eyes, the courage she had just mustered mixed with a lot of unease and uncertainty.
She felt like a prisoner awaiting a verdict, either acquittal or life imprisonment.
"Let’s talk about this later; you have work now." Seeing her like this, Archer Quinn decided to change the subject, "Director Simons is still waiting for you to go back and audition. Finish the glucose drink first, then have a cup of strong tea to sober up."
Normally, even if Director Simons was waiting for Bella to audition, if she got drunk, Archer Quinn would choose to take her home and explain to Director Simons himself. But at times like this, it would be better for her to focus on work to distract her from her sadness.
Bella Acker nodded and drank the glucose she had been holding for a while.
Archer Quinn handed her the strong tea he had asked the waiter to make earlier, "The taste might be a bit strong, but bear with it, drink it down, and you’ll feel better."
"Okay." Bella Acker drank the tea in one go. Her head was still spinning, but compared to the strong smell of alcohol from before, she felt much better.
"Feeling any better?"
"Much better." Bella nodded, only then realizing she was still leaning on Archer Quinn’s shoulder, and had even left a wet spot on his jacket. Embarrassed, she put down her teacup and used her sleeve to wipe his shoulder, "Sorry, Senior Quinn, I’ve dirtied your clothes."
"It’s okay." Archer Quinn smiled, dodging his shoulder and jokingly said, "If you really feel bad, I can leave the jacket with you when I leave so you can wash it and return it to me later."
"Okay." Bella nodded seriously, "I know you have spare clothes in your car. When you leave, give me this jacket."
Archer Quinn paused before laughing, "Bella, I was joking."
Bella shook her head, "I’m not joking. Senior Quinn, if you don’t let me wash it, I’ll feel bad."
Seeing the stubbornness and seriousness in her eyes, Archer Quinn finally relented, "Alright, I’ll change and give it to you. Bring it back to me next time we meet."
"Okay." Bella changed the subject, "Senior Quinn, how long until ’Brocade River and Mountain’ wraps up? Is Shannon adapting well to the crew?"
"Probably another two months or so before we wrap up." Archer Quinn smiled, "Shannon is adapting well to the crew. But her scenes aren’t long, so she should be done by the beginning of next month."
"It’s a pity, I finished my scenes just as Shannon joined." Bella said, "We were planning to explore the shooting base together."
"There’ll be opportunities in the future."
They chatted for about an hour in the private room. Bella drank more than half a cup of strong tea. She couldn’t say she was completely sober yet, but she certainly felt much more alert.
