Archer Quinn smiled at Bella Acker and said, "Don’t you feel we have an incredible connection?"
"Exactly." Bella Acker nodded, "The three biggest jobs I landed, I’ve been working with you."
One was filming "Brocade River and Mountain," the other is this current variety show, and then there’s Director Simons’ movie. It’s such a coincidence that I’m working with Senior Quinn on all of them.
Archer Quinn chuckled, thinking to himself that apart from "Brocade River and Mountain," which was a surprise, the other two collaborations were only scheduled after he saw she was part of them. But of course, he couldn’t tell her that.
"Then I must be your lucky star." Archer Quinn’s gaze fell on the book in her hands and he changed the topic with a smile, "Reading an English textbook?"
"Yeah. I want to apply to drama school and need to retake cultural subjects." Bella Acker made a face, "I’ve been away from books for too long, now I have to start learning from scratch. There’s so much I don’t understand, and I’m not sure if I can pass the retake in over a month."
Archer Quinn was a bit surprised, "You’re studying on your own like this? No one to teach you?"
"Of course not." Bella Acker sighed, "Ms. Young hired a tutor for me, but I’m just so slow that I have to spend extra time whenever I can."
Archer Quinn paused and said, "Didn’t Cynthia Young tell you that there’s actually a way to handle cultural subject grades?"
"Huh?" Bella Acker shook her head blankly, "Ms. Young never mentioned that. She only said that if I don’t pass, she’ll shelve me."
"She was just scaring you." Archer Quinn said, "Think about all the young actors who hit it big; they’re busy filming every day and have no time to study or take exams. Of course, there are ways around it. Silly, you’re actually studying so hard yourself."
Bella Acker felt speechless for a moment upon hearing this and said bitterly, "I worked on exercises until past two o’clock yesterday, then went straight to the airport and flew here. I haven’t even slept."
Archer Quinn noticed a faint shadow under her eyes, mostly covered by makeup, feeling a mix of exasperation and sympathy. He couldn’t help but gently tap her forehead with his finger, "Silly girl."
Bella Acker shielded her head with her English book and pouted, "Ms. Young said it so seriously, how was I supposed to know she was tricking me? But I think learning on my own is good; I get to understand things I didn’t know before. I guess Ms. Young also wants me to learn more, that’s why she said that. Plus, I think if I can pass the cultural subjects through my own efforts, it would be a huge accomplishment for me."
"But you’re getting busier with work, do you have time to study and do exercises?"
"I can use my breaks during work to do exercises. Ms. Young also specifically made time for my tutor to teach me, it’s not a problem." Bella Acker clenched her fist with determination.
"You seem to have endless energy." Archer Quinn marveled, looking at her with gentle eyes full of a warm smile.
He thought this was the girl who moved his heart, how stubborn and hardworking she was.
Archer Quinn stared at Bella Acker, desperately wishing he could wrap her in a tight hug.
But such thoughts could only linger in his mind, never to be acted upon.
Archer Quinn suppressed the flutter in his heart and said, "Go on and memorize your vocabulary, I won’t disturb you."
"It’s okay, I don’t mind this moment." Bella Acker said, noticing that Archer Quinn had no intention of getting out of the car, she blinked twice involuntarily.
